Introduction

MEW Shifts (“MEW Shifts,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, store, share, and protect information when you use the MEW Shifts mobile application and related services on iOS, Android, Apple Watch, and Wear OS (collectively, the “App”).

MEW Shifts is a shift scheduling and workforce management app. Most features work without an account. Optional sign-in unlocks cloud backup, groups, and other connected features.

Information we collect

We collect only what is needed to operate the App. The type of data depends on which features you use.

Information you provide

• Work data: shift schedules, attendance records, overtime, vacations, sick leave, notes, tasks, reminders, and preferences you enter in the App.
• Group data: if you use teams/groups, group names, membership, attendance shared within the group, leave requests, and related workforce data.
• Account data: if you sign in, your email address and basic profile information supplied by Apple Sign-In or Google Sign-In, plus an authentication identifier from the provider.
• Support communications: information you send when contacting us (e.g., email content).
• Attachments: photos or files you attach to notes or day items, stored locally or in cloud backup when enabled.

Information collected automatically

• Device & app data: device type, operating system version, app version, language, and general technical data needed for compatibility, security, and troubleshooting.
• Push token: a device token used to deliver notifications if you enable them.
• Subscription status: whether premium is active, processed via Apple, Google, and RevenueCat (not full payment card data).
• Crash & diagnostic data: limited technical logs that may be collected by platform or infrastructure providers to maintain stability.

Location information

Location is not collected by default. If you use optional geofence attendance or workplace location features, location may be accessed only with your permission and only when those features are in use. See Location & geofence.

Information we do not collect

• Payment card numbers or bank account details (handled by Apple or Google).
• Contacts, microphone, or camera data except when you explicitly attach a photo or file.
• Data for third-party advertising or ad tracking.

How we use information

We use information solely to provide, maintain, and improve the App:

• Display and manage your schedules, attendance, and workforce records.
• Authenticate your account and secure access to cloud features.
• Provide cloud backup, restore, and sync across devices when enabled.
• Operate group and workforce features you join or create.
• Send push notifications you have opted into (e.g., reminders, group updates).
• Validate premium subscription status and unlock premium features.
• Sync summary data to home screen widgets and watch companions.
• Respond to support requests and protect against abuse or security issues.
• Comply with applicable law and enforce our terms.

We do not sell personal information and do not use personal data for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Local & cloud storage

By default, most work data is stored locally on your device in the App’s database. You control whether data is uploaded to the cloud.

• Local storage: schedules, attendance, and preferences remain on your device unless you use backup, groups, or other cloud features.
• Cloud backup & restore: if you sign in and use backup, encrypted data is stored on our cloud infrastructure (Supabase) linked to your account.
• Account deletion: you can delete your account and associated cloud data from App settings. Local data on your device can be removed by uninstalling the App or clearing app data.

Workforce & groups

If you create or join a group, certain workforce data (such as attendance, leave requests, and summaries visible to group admins or members) is shared with other members of that group according to group permissions you and admins configure.

You should only share workforce data with people you trust. Group admins may have access to member attendance and leave information within their group.

Location & geofence

Optional workforce features may use location to verify attendance near a defined workplace (geofence).

• Location access requires your explicit permission through your device settings.
• We do not continuously track your location in the background unless a feature you enabled requires it and you have granted permission.
• You can disable location permission at any time in your device settings; geofence features will no longer work without it.

Watch & widgets

MEW Shifts offers optional Apple Watch, Wear OS, and home screen widget features for premium users. These display a summary of your schedule (e.g., today’s shift, month calendar, delay gauge) synced from the phone app.

• Widget and watch data is transferred between your phone and watch/device using platform services (WatchConnectivity, Wearable Data Layer, or shared app storage).
• This summary data is not published to our servers solely for widgets or watch display.
• Disabling premium or removing widgets/watch apps stops this sync.

Subscriptions & payments

MEW Shifts offers optional auto-renewable premium subscriptions (e.g., monthly and yearly plans) that unlock features such as widgets, watch apps, groups, cloud backup, and advanced tools.

• Payment processing: Apple or Google handles payment, billing, and refunds according to their policies.
• RevenueCat: we use RevenueCat to verify subscription status and manage entitlements. RevenueCat receives purchase identifiers and subscription state from Apple/Google, not your full payment details.
• Manage subscriptions: cancel or manage subscriptions in your Apple ID or Google Play account settings. Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.

Push notifications

If you enable notifications, we use Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) to deliver reminders, group updates, and other alerts you opt into. A device push token is stored to route messages to your device. You can disable notifications in App or device settings at any time.

Third-party services

We rely on trusted providers to operate the App. They process data under their own privacy policies:

We do not use third-party advertising SDKs or sell data to data brokers.

Data sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information only in these situations:

• With your direction: e.g., group members you choose, export files you create, or data you back up to the cloud.
• Service providers: infrastructure and vendors listed above, solely to operate the App.
• Legal requirements: if required by law, regulation, legal process, or to protect rights, safety, and security.
• Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice where required by law.

Data retention

• Local data: retained on your device until you delete it, clear app data, or uninstall the App.
• Cloud data: retained while your account is active and as needed to provide services. Deleted when you delete your account, subject to reasonable backup retention periods.
• Support emails: retained as long as needed to resolve your request and for legitimate business records.
• Subscription records: retained by Apple, Google, and RevenueCat according to their policies.

Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect information, including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), access controls, and secure authentication for cloud services. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

You are responsible for securing your device and account credentials. Use a strong device passcode and do not share your sign-in credentials.

Your rights & choices

Depending on your location, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including:

• Access to data we hold about you.
• Correction of inaccurate data.
• Deletion of your account and cloud data.
• Withdrawal of consent (e.g., location or notifications) via device settings.
• Objection or restriction of certain processing where applicable by law.

Account deletion

Creating an account is optional for most App features. If you have an account, you may delete your account and associated cloud data directly from App settings at any time.

After deletion, cloud backup and group data tied to your account will be removed from our systems in accordance with our retention practices. Data stored only on your device is not deleted remotely; uninstall the App or clear local data to remove it from your device.

Children's privacy

MEW Shifts is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will take steps to delete it.

International users

MEW Shifts may be used globally. If you use the App from outside your home country, your information may be processed in countries where our service providers operate (including the United States and other regions where Supabase, Google, Apple, or Firebase infrastructure may be located). We take steps to ensure appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers as required by applicable law.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Material changes may also be communicated through the App or by other appropriate means. Continued use of the App after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
